Special Needs Program

Since the fall of 2014, Head Over Heels has been offering small group gymnastics instruction for children with special needs. This program is designed to enhance each student’s physical, emotional, and intellectual abilities while providing them with exercise and support in a FUN and SAFE environment!

The class focuses on basic gymnastics skills as well motor skills, hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, muscle control, balance, strength, self-esteem and focus, with our highly-qualified instructor, Joanie. Classes are held during a quiet time in the gym and are small (approximately 4 children per class) to minimize distractions and allow for more individualized attention.

Classes are grouped after considering the needs and age of each child. More information will be posted as times and other details are finalized. To express interest, or share information about your child and his or her individual needs, please contact Joanie at joanie@headoverheelsma.com.

Message from Joanie:

“At the age of 5, I fell in love with gymnastics, and for the past 30 years I have been involved with the sport. I worked for several years in the integrated preschool program in Hingham, until having my first child in 2013. I would like to combine my passion for special education with my love of gymnastics. My goal is to conduct small classes for children with special needs, and explore the possibility of helping some of these children mainstream towards our regularly scheduled class programs.”
